Welcome to AI Summit 2024

The AI Summit 2024 is a gathering of minds at the forefront of innovation and safety in Artificial Intelligence (AI). This onsite conference brings together educators, researchers, industry practitioners, leaders of government, non-government, and educational organizations and agencies to engage in meaningful conversations on the impact of the rapidly evolving field of AI on education, the workplace, and society as a whole.

The swift developments in artificial intelligence led to the availability of various tools that claim to increase productivity, efficiency, and creativity in work and study. However, caveats on information accuracy, data security, inclusivity, biased content, intellectual property concerns, and threats to human autonomy, agency, and capabilities raise concerns about its immediate adoption and expanded utilization. International organizations and countries worldwide call for regulating AI tool development, deployment, and maintenance to protect the common good.

Generative AI significantly changed teaching and learning, creating short-term and long-term implications for developing knowledge, skills, and values among learners of all ages. UNESCO calls for a human-centered approach to AI in general and Generative AI in particular, emphasizing the need to validate AI systems' ethical and pedagogical appropriateness for education to protect human agency and genuinely benefit educators and learners. Likewise, available regional, country, and institutional may be used as benchmarks for national, institutional, and classroom-level policies and guidelines.

The AI Summit 2024 jumpstarts a continuing dialogue between educators and other influential sectors of society that will deepen understanding of artificial intelligence's impact on humanity's future and how to safeguard human agency while advancing AI for innovation and creativity. The AI Summit 2024 likewise introduces capability-building programs for educators to help strengthen knowledge, values, and skills in using artificial intelligence for teaching and learning, anchored on available competency frameworks.

Thus, the AI Summit 2024 aims to:

  1. Facilitate collaboration among educators, AI professionals, researchers, industry experts, and policy-makers to share knowledge, ideas, and best practices;

  2. Explore the latest breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, showcasing the emerging technologies shaping the future;

  3. Emphasize the importance of AI safety measures, ethical considerations, and responsible use to promote a human-centered approach and ensure positive societal impact; and

  4. Encourage a whole-of-society approach to responsible AI policy and program development, implementation, monitoring, and improvement at the national, institutional, and even classroom levels, fostering a collaborative approach to address societal concerns.
